Grizzlies, Locusts Make Deal
Monday, January 13th, 1969: Both sides appear content with the trade finalized today that will send a 4th round draft pick to the Salt Lake City Locusts, while the Denver Grizzlies will receive 28-year-old minor league center fielder Chris Crews, 27-year-old minor league second baseman Jim Mathis and 24-year-old minor league reliever Jesús López. "We feel this is a move that filled a few gaps in our roster," said the Grizzlies general manager. For his part, the Locusts GM said the trade was made "in the best interest of our organization's future." BNN analysts reported that on paper the trade seemed to be a plus for both ball clubs. The players involved are expected to join their new teams for the next scheduled game.

Looking at his all-time stats, Crews has a career .261 average with 600 hits, 158 doubles, 24 triples, 10 home runs and 200 RBIs to date. He has scored 313 runs, walked 158 times and stolen 310 bases.
